Yes. He is more relaxed than a lot of house cats. He seems calmed by the presence of his owner but a lot of animals go into "protect the owner" mindset when a stranger like a vet touches them when the owner is right there.

As an ex vet tech, I can tell you that Messi is way more behaved at the vet's than most dogs.
And perhaps cats too. I adore my little furball, but I'd be the first to say she can be a handful. I take her to the vets to have her nails trimmed (no way I can do it myself), and it takes two tecs to get the job done as she growls, hisses, and tries to claw them the entire time.
The vet was amazed at my cat's calmness when I took him. I guess due to him being calmly loved at home.
Can animals hear the ultrasound ? Perhaps that’s what bothers Messi - like whiny vacuums etc
@@sumeetsandhu9713 That's a good question as I know cats' hearing works to a higher pitch than dogs' hearing. From Messi's reaction, I don't think he can hear it - or if he can, it's not loud enough to worry him. If it was, he'd want to get away from it. Just like my cat does at 18kHz.

He is a domestic animal, by residence and behavior. There's no reason that he shouldn't go to a vet for domestic animals. Messi was likely their best-behaved patient that month!

Same here, when my 13 pound cat was about 17 years old, he ended up having all these tight hairballs on his belly. He would never let me try and untangle him without hissing so we ended up doing 4 sessions of combing/cutting the hairballs over a period of almost 2 weeks. My husband had to hold him while I worked on his hair. The whole time, his tail would flick and after about 10-15 minutes, he would start trying to bite and he would wail like he was being tortured. I assure you that he was never harmed, not even close. We would then of course stop but as soon as we would let him go, he would get away, stop and look at us like we were devils. 30 minutes later, he was back, wanting to be held. Go figure.

Have you ever got a serious medical treatment in some African country? If not, how can you compare? What do you know about this pet clinic particularly? This couple aren't rich people at all, they are middle class people.
Irina Románova I understand what your saying, Irina, but nonetheless, and regardless whether Messi was born in captivity or not, he’s a large cat native to North America (that’s why his dad dresses him in a heavy jacket before walking outside in mid winter -you could see it in other videos), and I know for a fact that’s illegal to capture or have a cat like Messi for a pet in America (a felony crime count after the first encounter with authorities). So, how could you possibly explain his presence in Russia, especially at a place that made money of Messi being there? And please don’t get me wrong because I have NO DOUBT that Messi is well treated and greatly loved by his adoptive parents (the love and affection is tangible in every video), but the fact that it’s illegal to capture these cats or have them as pets in America says enough. Messi is lucky to have such loving parents and obviously he’s quite happy and content, no one can dispute that...I only meant to point a fact related to healthcare and privilege in Russia just like many other countries around the world when pets belonging to wealthy people are treated far better than poor and suffering humans. And since you asked, Irina, yes I do know what I’m speaking of VETR well (and far more than most others could even get close to knowing about by virtue of my profession), enough to compare healthcare for humans between Africa and Russia, and enough to know that the vet clinic Messi was examined at in Moscow is an exclusive facility only the very wealthy can afford...and that Messi’s human parents are nowhere near average/ “middle class” Russians by any standards. When I seen this video this morning my heart lept into my throat fearing something was wrong, but with great relief I was happy to find it was a checkup by specialists to be sure Messi was in good health. Phewwwwww, lol, what great relief! Love Messi so much.

That's the difference between Russians and Most of the rest of the world. Russians live in a harsh climate weather wise. Russians on average are much fitter and tougher than many other groups of people in the world. That's what makes Russian soldiers so tough as well.

He was so well behaved in the doctor's office. I get nervous around doctors too and i will say that i have not always been well behaved. He is a very brave and well mannered big cat. You did a wonderful job parenting him.
